From Utah IHS representative Dr. Lauren Hunt

Thank you so much for your interest in the Utah Horn Club, the local chapter of the International Horn Society (IHS)! I'm Utah IHS Rep. Lauren Hunt. My main job is teaching horn at Utah State University, where I have worked since 2019. I love being part of IHS Utah because of the community created around our mutual love of our beautiful instrument. We are an active group with events taking place year-round, and we are always open to more suggestions for fun horn-related activities! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at to get involved, and we look forward to seeing you at our next event, Utah Alphorn Day (June 10, 2023, in Provo, UT).

At the annual Utah Horn Day, participants connect with other horn players from throughout the state and region to play in horn choirs, attend master classes with featured guest artists, hear performances of professional horn players, check out our awesome horn-specific vendors, and more! The next Utah Horn Day will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024, on the campus of Snow College. More information coming soon!

Celebrate the holiday season with IHS Utah and the Utah Horn Club! We perform holiday tunes as a horn choir at various establishments in the greater Salt Lake area. Specific information for December 2023 coming soon.

Play your horn out in the great natural environment of Utah! Join IHS Utah members hiking to spots with amazing natural acoustics, where we can play horns (standard horns and/or alphorns). Coming in Summer 2023; if you would like to lead a Horn Hike, please contact IHS Utah representative Lauren Hunt to volunteer!

Utah is in the Southwest US region of the International Horn Society, but is also close to the Northwest region. Each region regularly sponsors horn workshops, which are usually a weekend horn-related extravaganza! The International Horn Society presents a week-long horn-tastic conference every year. Recent symposia have been in Texas, Belgium, Oregon, New York, Brazil, and Australia, and regularly Utah-based horn players attend.
